On April 12, 2008, the Bellevue Philharmonic Orchestra (BPO) will present the first concerts in its Little Maestro Series, titled “Cirque de Classic: Hi-Low Big Top Circus” with performances at 2:00 and 3:30 pm at the Theatre at Meydenbauer. The BPO is launching the Little Maestro series with Let Your Music Shine! with Lisa & Linda as the newest addition to its educational programming. “We are very excited to be guest artists with the Bellevue Philharmonic as we continue our mission to inspire the unlimited potential of every child through music,” say Lisa and Linda. The Little Maestro series will introduce young children to classical music and will continue this summer, with presentations throughout all of East King County. Education and young audience development is central to the BPO mission, and this program will give young children a rich and entertaining exposure to classical music. “Every Eastside child under the age of eight will have the opportunity to experience the joy of classical music with the Little Maestro series,” says Bellevue Philharmonic CEO, Jennifer McCausland. “Cirque de Classic”, created and produced by award-winning composers and producers Lisa Allison and Linda Sebenius, is a move-along, sing-along performance that highlights the music of the great composers of classical music in a colorful and lively circus setting. Parent and child explorers will learn about high and low, fast and slow and other age-appropriate musical concepts through storytelling and audience participation in each moment of this performance. The performances will include engaging originals and bouncy tunes by Beethoven, melodic movements by Mozart, and the imaginative music of Haydn. “Cirque de Classic” will include excerpts from such pieces as Mozart’s Marriage of Figaro, Beethoven’s 5th and 9th symphonies, and Haydn’s Gypsy Rondo. Lisa and Linda, along with special instrumental guests, will create a magical musical experience that educates, entertains, and inspires the entire family.
